The Children's Museum of New Hampshire offers opportunities for children and families to explore art, science, and culture through dozens of activities and exhibits. Among these are the Thinkering and Steam Innovation Labs; Dino Detective; Music Matrix & Sound Watch; Naturalist's Study; Cave Explorers; and Post Office. The recently re-opened Dover Adventure Playground features a life-size flat-bottomed vintage gundalow boat; a net climber; swings and slides; a 3-story Garrison tower; a 1,200 pound, 3x8 foot climbable Alewife granite fish sculpture; a splash pad; musical instruments; and a life-sized “whale's tail” sculpture perched on the roof of the Dover Pool. Regularly scheduled special events take place throughout the year, including the Dover Mini Maker Faire; Teddy Bear Clinic + Picnic; Toddlerfest; 5K Road Race + Kid-Venture Course; and Earth Day Celebration; among others. A museum shop is on the premises.

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, located in Concord, NH, is dedicated to the two astronauts who came from the granite state—Christa McAuliffe and Alan Shepard. The museum offers a range of permanent and changing exhibits that focus on astronomy, aviation, earth and space science, including full-sized replicas of Mercury 7 and Mercury-Redstone rockets, a 1956 XF8U-3 Crusader jet, and items from Star Trek movies, a planetarium, and an observatory. There is a museum shop and café on the premises.

Pass Benefits

These passes provide free general admission tickets for up to 4 people.   

General admission tickets allow access to the Discovery Center exhibit galleries and Science Playground. (Please note: the Science Playground is seasonal - will close for the season on October 15th.)

Planetarium tickets are an add-on purchase to general admission tickets. To see a show, you must purchase tickets at the front desk during public hours, or online at the museum's website (current rate is $6.00).

You must visit the library to pick up the physical pass.  You may reserve a pass up to 3 months in advance.   Pass may be picked up in the children's room within the week of your planned visit.     Please contact the library as soon as possible if you will be unable to use this pass so that someone else will have the opportunity to use it.

The Museum of Science in Boston is located on a piece of land that extends the width of the Charles River, connecting Boston and Cambridge. •    This pass will admit up to 4 people at a 50% discount on tickets to the Museum’s Exhibit Halls. Children under 3 are not included in the count of 4 and are always admitted for free.

•    Your Library pass can only be used on the date printed on the pass.

•    Please bring your library pass confirmation (printed or displayed on a phone) when you visit.

•    When you arrive at the Museum, stop at the Box Office to exchange your library pass and purchase your Exhibit Halls tickets at the discounted rate. If you have any questions or would like to reserve your Exhibit Halls passes in advance to avoid waiting in line the day of your visit, please call 617-723-2500 (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily).

If you are unable to show your Library confirmation on a phone, you may print out a copy using the link in the confirmation email or request a paper copy from the library.

The New England Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals, from the giant Pacific octopus to Northern fur seals to little blue penguins. They offer a wide range of exhibits, including a shark and ray touch tank and the Giant Ocean Tank, a four-story coral reef featuring hundreds of Caribbean animals. In addition, they have an IMAX theatre and run whale watch boat excursions in partnership with Boston Harbor Cruises from April through November.

Located within Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, NH, the Seacoast Science Center has been providing educational experiences on behalf of New Hampshire State Parks since 1992. The center includes hands-on science exhibits (undersea exploration to marine debris), live animal exhibits which feature creatures that live in the rapidly changing Gulf of Maine ecosystem; and many special events, like “Music-by-the-Sea” concerts and “Sippin' for Seals” (dancing and drinks to support the Marine Mammal rescue Program).

This pass admits two adults and up to four children at for half-price admission. Library Member Pass Holders are required to pay NH State Parks use fee of $4 per adult and $2 per child from April - September. Pick up passes in Children's Room.

All visitors must make reservations with the museum for timed tickets before visiting.

Pass Benefits

This pass is not currently available as our Library Membership for the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center only allows for seasonal discounted trail admissions.   

During the season – the pass provides discounted ($12 each) trail admissions for four people.  Plan approximately 2.5 hours to walk the 3/4-mile live animal trail has up close views of black bear, coyote, mountain lions, bobcats, river otters, foxes, and more in natural woodland enclosures. The trail meanders through open meadows, mature forests, and marsh boardwalks on a packed gravel path.  Trailside buildings feature interactive exhibits that teach natural history concepts in meaningful and memorable ways. There are miles of other trails to explore – the Ecotone, the Forest, and the Mt. Fayal Trails.    Library Patrons must bring the dated pass with them to the Admissions window at the Welcome Center.  Patrons do not need to make advance reservations but trail tickets can be reserved by library pass holders at nhnature.org.
