Regenerating Life documentary showing with panel discussion to follow

Sunday, March 31:30—4:45 PMLecture HallDover Public Library73 Locust St., Dover, NH, 03820

This event is a collaboration between Seacoast Permaculture and NOFA-NH

Regenerating Life is a feature-length documentary that takes an ecological approach to unraveling the climate crisis. It shifts away from the dogma that carbon emissions from the burning of fossil fuels are the primary cause of this crisis and offers a new narrative. The film proposes that it is humankind’s relentless destruction of nature that has caused the climate crisis. This is because nature – the vast biodiversity that exists on our planet – regulates and balances Earth’s climate.

We can reverse this destructive process by Regenerating Life. Filmmaker John Feldman explores how life regulates the climate through photosynthesis and the carbon cycle; the water cycle; the dung cycle; and a vast interconnected soil network of fungi, microorganisms, and plant roots. He dives into the economic and political systems that have encouraged this destruction of Earth through the relentless quest for wealth and dominion.

John visits people who are working on solutions. They are looking for ways to repair the damage. By working with nature, they are restoring the forests, fields, wetlands, and oceans. They are regenerating soils to grow healthy food and build healthy communities. This is the solution to the climate crisis.Regenerating Life takes an ecological approach to unpacking the social and environmental crises that confront us, shifting the prevailing climate change story, and offering new, attainable solutions.

John Feldman, (Panelist) producer of the documentary "Regenerating Life"
Feldman’s career spans over 40 years and covers a wide range of genres, from independent dramatic feature films and documentaries, to experimental, educational, and business films. His films have won numerous international awards. Feldman’s current film Regenerating Life looks at the climate crisis from an ecological perspective. Prior to this he made Symbiotic Earth (2018), a documentary about the maverick scientist Lynn Margulis, which combines his lifelong passions for filmmaking and the natural sciences.

Jim Laurie, (Panelist) Restoration Ecologist
Jim is a biologist from Rice University and is a pioneer in biological remediation of waste water. He was the technical manager of the world’s largest “Living Machine” project to clean raw municipal sewage with no toxic chemicals. For twenty years Jim was a biologist and trainer in the chemical industry in Houston, TX, where his work with living machines resulted in processing effluent cleaner than possible with conventional technology.  He began studying with Allan Savory twenty years ago and has spoken widely about Holistic Management and has been instrumental in spreading the message in New England.

Zuzka Mulkerin (Panelist) coordinates the new edition of the book "Water for Climate Recovery - The New Water Paradigm" featured in the Regenerating Life movie. She works with the book's authors and serves as the Voices of Water Program Director at Biodiversity for a Livable Climate. Zuzka is a nature activist and tree champion, originally from Czecho-Slovakia. She graduated from Bratislava and the London School of Economics and has worked as a finance operation manager at Pepsi-Cola, Jacobs Suchard, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
