Join Dover Public Library in-person or virtually on Wednesday, November 17 at 6:30 PM to make a traditional Korean lotus lantern. All materials will be provided and the craft is suitable for ages 10 and up. Registration is required as space is only available for 30 participants. Crafters will be asked to pick up supplies for the program at the library a week ahead of time.

The lantern craft will be run by a member of the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project (KSCPP). KSCPP is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of greater awareness and understanding of Korean history and culture.

Following the lantern craft, a short documentary called “Korea Today” will be shown. After the Korean War, nothing was left in Korea. Today the South Korea is one of the richest Asian countries and some Korean industries, like IT and shipbuilding, are among the top in the world. Many members in KSCPP remember their parent’s generation working hard and practicing Korea’s founding philosophy “Hognik Ingan,” which means “to live and act for the benefit of all mankind,” in order to turn their lives around. KSCPP hopes the craft and documentary will bring awareness to Korean culture and lifestyle.

Please be aware that you will be asked to pick up materials for this project at the library ahead of time. If you fail to pick up these materials (or call to arrange another date) we will count that as an absence from the program and will pass on the supplies to the next person in line. You will be notified when materials become available for pickup. Thank you for understanding!

Registration for this event has now closed.
