Free Dance Class for Adults

Join us for a free intro taster dance class for adults in Dover Public Library's Lecture Hall on Thursday, November 18th, 7-8pm!  During this time you will learn beginner ballet for the first portion of the class, and lyrical dance for the second half. This class is complimentary from Musical Arts of Dover taught by dance program director and coordinator Savannah Lee. Bring your water bottle and something you're comfortable moving in. Socks are ok too! We welcome you and invite you to join the fun and try something new!

About the organization: Musical Arts of Dover offers professional training for the performing arts offering classes in music, dance, acting, public speaking, musical theater, and fitness.

Savannah Lee started her professional training with Atlanta Ballet. At age fourteen, she reached the top of the pre professional division and danced corps de ballet roles with the company. In Atlanta, she was in productions such as Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker, Micheal Pink’s Romeo and Juliet, John McFall's Swan Lake, and Bruce Well’s Pinocchio and Snow White. Her favorite role she danced with them was the Lamb (Marzipan) in Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker. Savannah was one of twelve Americans to attend the Royal Ballet in Covent Garden, London the summer that she studied. Additionally, she trained summers with English National Ballet, American Ballet Theatre in NYC, The Kirov Ballet Academy, Atlanta Ballet, Washington Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Savannah attended Brenau University for dance on a full Presidential Scholarship. She danced professionally with Nashville Ballet’s second company, Gainesville Ballet, Brooklyn Ballet, Nomad Contemporary Ballet, Portland Ballet, Boulder Ballet, Safe Haven Ballet, Harvard Ballet and with an abundance of companies as a freelance professional dancer during the four years she lived in NYC. In addition to dancing professionally in NYC, she studied jazz on full scholarship with Stephen Harding Jazz. Some of her most memorable roles include the Russian Girl in Balanchine’s Serenade, the allegro principal in Balanchine’s Western Symphony, the Butterfly soloist in Balanchine’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, the principal in Balanchine’s Raymonda Variations, the Sugarplum Fairy in the Nutcracker, the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Taglioni in Grand Pas de Quatre, the Bride of Dracula, Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote and the principal role of the Moon in a celestial ballet choreographed by ABT’s Claire Davison. Savannah has choreographed on both Portland Ballet and Boulder Ballet’s professional companies, Brenau University, Harvard Ballet and her former company Lightning Dance Collective. She has taught for Manhattan Movement Arts Center, Portland Ballet, Boulder Ballet, Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre, Urbanity Dance and as a guest teacher for Integrarte, Safe Haven Ballet and Harvard Ballet.
