This lecture will examine the life and works of Jeremy Belknap, minister in Dover from 1767 to 1787.  As a minister, historian, Army Chaplain, and  archivist, Belknap allows us to consider many aspects of community life  in Dover, such as religion, government, scholarship, and society during a  tumultuous period.

Dr.  Jordan AP Fansler, MSc has lived in Dover for over 10 years while researching and exploring New England's history.  Through his scholarly  career at Temple University, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of New Hampshire he has examined the interplay between the local and the national or transnational, particularly in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. He’s currently an instructor and Coordinator for History and Political Science at Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth, and a member of the Great Bay Archaeological Survey team.
